Liz Dawes Duraisingh is the Co-Director of Project Zero, where she has been a Principal Investigator since 2014. There she co-directs The Open Canopy (formerly known as Out of Eden Learn), an online program and research project designed to promote thoughtful intercultural inquiry and exchange among young people from around the world. As part of this project, she leads research strands related to young people’s understanding of culture(s), migration, and public and private remembrances of the past and history. She also directs Aprendiendo a Aprender | Learning to Learn, a project that seeks to transform teaching and learning practices in Panamanian public schools, through networked professional learning that takes a collaborative inquiry approach. This work builds on Creando Comunidades de Indagación/Creating Communities of Inquiry, a four-year collaboration with the Innova Schools of Peru that sought to promote a culture of inquiry-driven teaching and learning across their rapidly expanding network of schools—work that led to a substantial practitioner-oriented white paper, Deeper, Together, which is available in both English and Spanish. This work in turn built on the Creating Communities of Innovation project, a partnership with a culturally diverse network of schools in the United Arab Emirates that resulted in a book and framework for promoting inquiry-driven innovation in schools. Liz also serves on the core faculty of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, teaching courses on qualitative research methods and designing intercultural learning experiences. She was formerly a middle and high school history teacher, working in both England and Australia. She holds degrees from Oxford University, University College London, and the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
